(If you are from Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey this does not apply to you!)
We welcome all Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey residents, and other out-of-state visitors to Maine who can say they have met the 14 day quarantine requirement
Current guidelines require you to sign the attached certificate and to hand this in upon check-in. To provide you further information regarding Maine’s self-quarantine, we offer the following information from Maine public officials.
May 14, 2020 – Portland Press Herald
A new Executive Order permits hospitality businesses to begin taking reservations for June 1, 2020 bookings, with non-residents asked to quarantine for 14 days on an honor system.
Governor Mills’ Economic and Community Development Commissioner, Heather Johnson, in charge of implementing the Governor’s Order stated “Visitors from outside of Maine are still being asked to quarantine for 14 days after getting here, but she said the State had no enforcement protocol for the 14 day requirement.”
Department of Public Safety
Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland stated that failing to quarantine can be subject to small criminal penalties, but added “So far, no charges have been filed, and law enforcement officials are working to educate the public and get voluntary compliance.” He added “State police are not stopping cars because there is an out-of-state plate . . . .”
June 9, 2020 – The most recent Order regarding travelers into Maine
The most recent Order exempts residents of New Hampshire and Vermont from complying with the self-quarantine Order. With respect to enforcement, the Executive Order provides:
This Order may be enforced by any governmental department or official that regulates licenses, permits or otherwise authorizes the operation or occupancy of lodging operations and accommodations, businesses, buildings, parks and playgrounds.
Bayley’s Campground has filed a federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the self-quarantine requirements as a violation of every citizen’s right to travel under the United States Constitution.
We hope you enjoy your stay at Bayley’s Camping Resort and incorporate social distancing in your daily activities.
